Buddhist Funeral Service

Was waiting at Nirvana Memorial Center, Sg Besi from 1 am for the remains of the late Mr. Khoo to arrive from Sabah via MAS airlines.

Mr. Khoo was in Sabah scaling Mount Kinabalu with a group of good friends.  They managed to reach the peak and spent some time taking precious photos at the summit.  While descending, Mr. Khoo had a falling accident whilst he was also believed to be suffering from altitude sickness.  The combo of the above unfortunate events has taken a serious toll on his physical condition and he passed away while descending Mount Kinabalu. His friends and the porters helped search for rescue to transfer his remains down to the foothill.  They have contacted his wife Cynthia to inform her of the tragic incident and eventually, Cynthia phoned me for advice for the arrangements to repatriate her late husband back to Kuala Lumpur for the funeral and burial.  

I immediately contacted Nirvana Sabah Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Au Kok Wah to help out and everything went on smoothly there after, including making police report, post-mortem procedure, repatriation documentation and not forgetting, engaging a Sifu to pray at the Foothill for his soul to return to KL, this is part of the normal practice for Chinese who have passed on away from home. 

With all legal documentations completed, the late Mr Khoo's remains was flown back to Kuala Lumpur a day later; With the airway bill (AWB) confirming Nirvana as the designated consignee to claim his remains from MAS cargo in KLIA.

Due to unforeseen flight delay, we finally received his remains in KLIA a couple of hours later than scheduled, which was close to 3 am.  The family was eager to see him and waiting to offer chanting at the mortuary.  Our Senior Service Consultant/ Sales Manager, Mr. Steven Tai was on hand to see to all the preparation work, rendering whichever possible ways to lighten the pain that this grief-stricken family has to go thru.

We left the center near dawn, the time was almost 6 am and we were scheduled to return to the center again at noon to see to the parlor set up for the wake service, organizing an obituary to appear in the local newspaper the following day as well as taking the immediate family to Nirvana Semenyih to chose a burial plot. Much more work to follow thru but I was not even feeling the tiredness as I see the family's agony from the beginning until much at ease now, it was all fulfilling.

Mr. Khoo was laid to rest in peace at Zone SM, Nirvana Semenyih Memorial Park.
