Enlightenment is a prayer ceremony for the departed souls, ancestors and our loved ones. It is meant to transcend and raise the departed souls from suffering and thus attain nirvana.
At the same time, this Enlightenment Ceremony is also an expression of filial piety, to show respect towards our ancestors and conduct prayers for longevity, health and blessings for parents. It also enlightens us to be thankful in life, to know our benefactors in life and to repay the debt of gratitude.
Merits for participating in an Enlightenment Ceremony
FOR THE ANCESTORS AND PARENTS
Ancestors and parents are the origin of our life. We should take action to repay their kindness by participating in the Enlightenment Ceremony, helping them in their karma freedom.
FOR RELATIVES
For departed siblings, relatives who are single
FOR KARMA DEBTORS
Pray for these karma debtors of the previous life or wandering souls in this life, helping to repay and to free ourselves from the karma debts.
FOR INFANT SPIRITS
Pray for these infant spirits, by protecting their spirit and soul to enable them to reincarnate to better life.
FOR ALL OTHER SPIRITS
Offer freedom to all beings from suffering, enlighten their souls in order to reach the pure land for a new life.

超渡法会-孝道的体现與慈悲力量的廷伸。
超渡法会教育众人，要做一个明白的知恩人、感恩人、報恩人。陽上子孙为往生的亲人做諸功德彿事，不但能帮助亡者邁向解脱，亦是盡大孝之道。

為累世的業因果報，或今世的遊魂冲煞，來超渡、解厄供奉
嬰靈供奉
為尚未出世的胎兒來安靈超渡供養。以保佑其靈體神魂俱全，能早日投胎轉世
十方幽靈
供奉 解救眾生，免于惡道中受苦，使亡者歡喜而願往生凈土。
