NIRVANA GRABS 2 AWARDS AT ASIA FUNERAL EXPO 2012 HONG KONG

NV Multi Asia Sdn Bhd emerged as a big winner by sweeping two out of the eight titles at the Asia Funeral Expo (AFE) Awards Ceremony.
The Asia Outstanding Brand in Funeral Service Industry and Asia Outstanding Award in Multi National Expansion clearly underlined the group’s success.
A delighted NV Multi Asia founder and group managing director/CEO Datuk Kong Hon Kong saw the awards as a recognition of his efforts over the past 20-odd years, but humbly attributed the group’s success to his employees, who were armed with passion, creativity and determination.
It goes without saying that Kong is their role model.
“I don’t agree with retiring at 55 years old. To me, this is my best time yet.
Huge achievement: Kong (right) receiving the awards from National Funeral Directors Association (US) president Randall L. Earl.
“Over the years, I have gained valuable experiences, and a deeper understanding of the society and economy. With these, I can do more and do better,” the 58-year-old said.
Locally, NV Multi Asia operates in the Klang Valley, Sabah, Sarawak, Johor and Penang. It has also expanded to Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Taiwan.
In the future, the group plans to venture into China and South Korea, besides tapping into the Muslim market in Indonesia with a local partner.
Kong also revealed that he aimed to list his business in Hong Kong in the next two to three years.
“The move will increase the financial capability of the company to reach greater heights,” he said.
In conjunction with the AFE, a conference aptly themed Think Globally, Act Locally was held.
Over the course of three days, experienced professionals looked into a range of topics, such as the strategic marketing for the funeral industry, funerals without religion, evolution of green funerals in China, implications of social media for the funeral industry, and global trend and innovation within the funeral industry.
Kong was one of the speakers too. He shared his thoughts on the development trend of the funeral industry in Asia.
He noted that the Chinese in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore were more open-minded about death now, and were more inclined to plan their funerals ahead.
He encouraged industry players to leverage on this.
“For instance, NV Multi Asia has introduced installment plans for bereavement services and pre-purchase of burial plots,” he shared.
He also touched on NV Multi Asia’s business concept in ensuring steady growth.
“We constantly review and strengthen our corporate structure, emphasise on staff training and engage in continuous research and development,” he said.
